Hosts Morocco are worthy favourites given that they reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup and won all six of their qualifying games for this tournament, scoring 26 goals in the process. Around one-third of all previous AFCON tournaments have been won by the host country.
Egypt have the best record in this competition with seven previous victories. Mohamed Salah will hope to steer his nation to victory after missing out on the decisive matches in the last AFCON due to injury.
Ivory Coast are the defending champions, having defeated Nigeria 2-1 in the 2023 final, whilst Algeria, the 2019 winners, will also fancy their chances.
Senegal defeated Egypt after a penalty shootout in the 2021 final and have one of the strongest pools of players to choose from in this year’s tournament.
Amongst the longer priced teams, Comoros and Botswana are only making their second ever appearance in the Africa Cup of Nations finals.
The initial group stage in the AFCON finals will feature six groups, with each one containing four teams. The teams finishing in the top two places in each group will qualify for the round of 16, along with the four best third-placed teams, based on their records in the group stage.
Here’s how the groups are made up. Which nation do you fancy to be crowned the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations winner?
