The objective of Balloon Race Live
As described in the sections below, you need to pass the qualification stage (slot game) to get to the final Balloon race, where you will then win a multiplier (in relation to your stake), depending on which balloon is the first to reach the finish line at the top.
How to play Balloon Race Live
The game is played in three stages. Here’s how you play the Balloon Race game.
Stage 1—Qualification
The qualification stage is played within a 5×3 slot game. The goal is a spin containing three Scatter symbols (depicted as a colourful hot air balloon), three Expanding Wilds, or any combination of three across both symbols.
Once you have a spin with one of those combinations, you then qualify for the Balloon Race Bonus round.
The slot itself has 10 fixed win paylines. Any winning combinations will pay out immediately, even if you have not qualified for the Bonus round.
Scatter symbols may contain additional multipliers that will boost your total winnings. The Expanding Wilds substitute any symbol apart from Scatter.
Aside from the Scatter and Expanding Wild symbols, there are seven regular symbols. These are a Ten through to an Ace, plus a Bronze Ribbon and Silver Ribbon.
There are two additional options when making a spin, which are available when using the ‘Activate xxxtreme’ button. On average, these will provide a quicker way to reach the Balloon Race stage, but will cost more per spin, depending on which variant you select.
xxxtreme spins
This costs five times your bet stake, and you are guaranteed to land a minimum of one Scatter or Expanding Wild, increasing the chance of getting more multipliers.
Super xxxtreme spins
This costs 50 times your bet stake, and you are guaranteed to land a minimum of two Scatters or Expanding Wilds, or one of each, further increasing the chance of getting more multipliers.
Stage 2—Top Up
After qualifying, you can boost your multipliers in the ‘Top Up’ phase. This stage is optional for the player.
Click on the ‘Top Up’ button to release between three and six balloons (a maximum of two of each colour), where each balloon contains a possible ‘Top Up’ value.
As the balloons climb to the top, they either burst or reach the top. If they reach the top, they will add the multiplier value shown on the balloon to the corresponding finishing target.
The minimum amount it costs to use the ‘Top Up’ is the value of your qualifying stake. You can increase the stake, which will add to the value of any multipliers gained.
However, you are not guaranteed to benefit from the ‘Top Up’, as any multiplier you add may not end up on the balloon which ultimately wins the race.
Stage 3—Balloon Race Bonus round
Now the live game show starts with a live host.
The Balloon Race Bonus round takes you above the clouds and into an exciting hot air balloon race towards the various Bonuses. The Bonus game features a bingo-style, ball-drawing machine, with 80 yellow, purple, green and red balls (20 balls for each of the balloon colours), and there are different multipliers awaiting the hot air balloons at the finishing line. The coloured balls are drawn randomly once the race begins. When a ball is drawn, the balloon of the matching colour ascends one step upwards. This process repeats, with the ball-drawing machine continuously drawing the different coloured balls, and the respective balloons then ascending.
Once a specific coloured ball has been drawn five times, it will reach the finish line. The colour of that winning balloon determines the payout for all the players in the Bonus round. All the multipliers (Scatter, Top Up and Bonus round) are considered when calculating the final multiplier for each player taking part in that race.
The winning payouts will differ between successful players, as they will be affected by previous multipliers gained in earlier stages of the game that apply individually to a player. However, it’s worth also taking into account that there will have been a cost for the qualification phase to reach the final race, and you will need to achieve a certain multiplier, depending on that cost, to recoup at least your initial stake.
