Euro outright odds and betting

As with any major tournament, Marathonbet is offering a whole host of special markets on the Euros.

In addition to the traditional tournament winner betting, you’ll discover a wide range of betting available on many different outcomes: team performance, number of corners, group statistics, yellow and red cards, etc.

As the tournament draws closer, new markets will be constantly added, so check the website regularly for all the latest offerings and odds.

For a full Euro 2024 betting guide and predictions, check our preview article.

Many of the markets are offered with ‘yes’ and ‘no’ options. This can make things interesting for the bettor as, if you think a team/player will underperform, you can bet on them not to achieve something. For example, if we look at the ‘To Qualify for Semi-Final’ market, you can see the contrasting odds for teams to qualify and not to qualify for that stage.

To get a feel for what’s available with Marathonbet, here’s a list of just a few of the different betting markets available.

Euro 2024 Tournament winner

Predict which team will win the tournament. In the last eight tournaments, fancied teams have won the trophy, with Spain having won twice and Italy, Portugal and Germany all having won once. However, there have also been two shock winners: Denmark in 1992 and Greece in 2004.

Here are the odds prior to the start of the tournament.

Each-way betting is available at ½ the odds to finish first or second. If you fancy a team at longer odds, an each-way bet will cost twice your stake amount, but you will still receive a nice payout if your team loses in the final.

To qualify for final

For a successful bet on this market, your selected team just needs to reach the Euro final. It does not matter if they win or lose the big match.

To qualify for semi-final

Here, you pick a team that you predict will reach at least the semi-finals. Win or lose, if they make the last four of the tournament, your bet is a winner.

To qualify for quarter-final

This can be an interesting market if you think one of the unfancied teams will do well, but may struggle deeper into the tournament. With the round of 16 pairings decided on group finishing positions, you can try to work out which teams could face an easier match if they progress.

To qualify for the round of 16

The 16 teams who will qualify for this round are the top-two teams from each group, plus the four best third-placed teams. Bear in mind that the rankings of the teams who finish in third-place in their groups is decided in this order:

  1. Points
  2. Goal difference
  3. Goals scored
  4. Wins
  5. Lower disciplinary points total
  6. Overall ranking in the European qualifiers

Player of the tournament

This is an award presented by UEFA to the player they consider to be the best player of the tournament.

However, bear in mind when picking your selection that, in the seven editions of this award that have been officially presented, six of the winners have played for the nation that won the tournament.

The only exception was in 2016, when Frenchman Antoine Griezmann took the award despite his side losing to Portugal in the final.

In Euro 2020, Italian shot stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma became the first goalkeeper to officially win the award.

Goal of the tournament

The winner is decided by public vote after a shortlist is drawn up by a UEFA panel at the end of the tournament. This is a very difficult market to predict with so many possible winners, and the betting odds reflect this. Currently, the shortest odds of any player are 25.00.

This is just a small list from the players quoted on this market. As in all markets such as this, other players are available on request if you fancy a bet on someone who is not quoted on the website.

Young player of the tournament

This award was only introduced in 2016 and is awarded to the best player in the tournament who is 22 years old or younger. The two previous winners were both 18 at the time, Renato Sanches for Portugal and Pedri for Spain. At the time of writing, Englishman Jude Bellingham is the clear favourite for Euro 2024, with two German players, Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, the next in the betting.

Player to make the most assists

Another tricky market to predict sees two EPL stars, Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium) and Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd) amongst the favourites. In the last tournament, the highest number of assists (four) was made by Steven Zuber of Switzerland.

Name the finalists

One of the main considerations here is in the position in which you think each team will finish in the group stage, as that will determine which part of the draw they move into in the round of 16. You will need your selections to be in opposite ends of the draw, so that they can still meet in the final.

The three most popular potential match-ups currently are England vs France, England vs Germany and France vs Germany. Here’s a snapshot of the bookmakers’ predictions for the most likely finalist pairings.

Team tournament performance

There are markets on each of the 24 teams, with odds offered on what stage of the tournament they will reach, as well as the total tournament goals they will score and concede. Many different options will be added to these markets as the tournament draws closer.

Group of the winning team

Simply pick one of the six groups and you’ll be on a winner if any of the four teams in that group wins the tournament.

Team to score the fastest goal

Which team will race out of the blocks and score the quickest goal? In Euro 2020, there were three goals scored in under two minutes:

Emil Forsberg (Sweden vs Poland) in the group stage—1minute, 22 seconds

Yussuf Poulsen (Denmark vs Belgium) in the group stage—1 minute, 39 seconds

Luke Shaw (England vs Italy) in the final—1 minute, 56 seconds

Groups—to finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th

For all of the groups, odds are offered on each of the finishing positions for every team. You could make a pick from each group and place an accumulator to give you some added interest for all of the groups. The bet slip below shows a mix of groups and placings.

Groups—straight forecast

Everyone may have an opinion on who they think will win the group, but can you also predict who will finish second?

In this market, you select who will finish in the top two places in a group in the correct order.

Groups—dual forecast

This is similar to the above market, but with one difference. Here, you also have to predict the top two teams in the group, but they can finish in either order. A combined price is offered for both possibilities.
