The big change this season sees Lewis Hamilton leaving Mercedes after 12 years to join Ferrari. He will be replaced by Andrea Kimi Antonelli, with the Italian stepping up from Formula 2.
Max Verstappen will be attempting to win his fifth successive drivers’ championship with Red Bull. Prior to that, Lewis Hamilton had won six of the previous seven titles with Mercedes, with Nico Rosberg breaking that sequence in 2016, also driving for Mercedes.
There have been multiple changes amongst the drivers, with only two of the teams fielding the same line-up as they started with in 2024.

How do drivers score points in F1 2025?
There are two ways drivers can score points in the 2025 Formula 1 season. This differs from last season in that the point awarded for the fastest lap will no longer be awarded.
Driver points awarded – Grand Prix
In each of the 24 races, points will be awarded based on each driver’s finishing position. The top 10 finishers will earn points as follows:

What is the different between a Grand Prix and a Sprint race?
A sprint takes place over 100km, roughly a third of the distance of a regular Grand Prix race. Points are awarded for the top eight finishers in a sprint race, and they count towards the season’s driver standings. However, they do not count as official race wins, nor do they affect the grid positions in the main race, which are still decided by the qualifying rounds.
